Current Projects

Below is a list of current research projects that I and my students are working on.

LGBTQ+ Family Planning Study
This study aims to understand how LGBTQ+ adults are thinking about future parenthood in the current political climate.  We are also interested in how individual and contextual factors may shape thoughts about parenthood.  Data collection for this study was completed as part of Ohio Wesleyan University's Summer Science Research Program. We have presented findings from this project at conferences for the National Council on Family Relations and Society for Research in Child Development.

LGBTQ+ Family Socialization Project
We are currently collecting data on young adults with LGBTQ+ parents' experiences of LGBTQ+ family socialization (i.e., practices used by parents to teach their children about what it means to be a part of a LGBTQ+ family) to examine how these experiences may be related to positive development. We are particularly interested in examining how these experiences may help protect against negative impacts of discrimination.
